conscious applications | digital detox

welcome to our first module in our digital detox progression.

our smartphones were originally designed to make phone calls. that’s it! they soon developed the capacity to send text messages, and then the rest is history.

the single biggest distraction we have is our smartphone. it interrupts us hundreds of times a day. we interrupt ourselves to check it, take pictures or videos. it keeps us from doing our best work and enjoying our best life.

we must start to scrutinize how we use technology so that we can live our best life possible. the first thing to start with is our smartphone.
throughout this progression, we will be focused on cleaning our phones up and “denotifying” ourselves.

your first homework assignment is to go through every application on your phone and ask the question:

  • have I ever used this app?  if not?  delete it.
  • if so, when was the last time I used it?  if only once or a long time ago? delete it.
  • is this app the best way to use this technology? or is there a better, more mindful way of doing what I think this app is supposed to do for me?
  • if I deleted this app, would my life change drastically in a negative way?
